What do the job statuses mean, from start to paid?
See how a job moves from New to Completed and Paid, what each status means, and what happens when a job is finished.
A job starts as New, becomes In Progress when someone starts it, Completed when it is finished, and Paid once the customer's payment is collected. Statuses change through actions such as starting and completing a job, not through a menu.
The main statuses
- New. The job exists. Jobs you create start here.
- Scheduled. A job with a day on the schedule. The Calendar shows New and Scheduled jobs the same way, as Scheduled.
- In Progress. Someone started the job. Lawnly records the start time. Photos and a location check may be required first.
- Completed. Someone completed the job. Lawnly records the finish time.
- Paid. The job's payment has been collected.
- Refunded. The payment was refunded.
- Cancelled. The job was cancelled. Deleting a job from the Calendar, archiving its customer, or clearing the schedule cancels it rather than erasing it.
The Calendar also uses Missed (scheduled work whose day has passed), On hold and Needs approval; their colors are under Business, Jobs & crew, Status colors. A job not finished by the end of its day moves to the next day overnight.
Completed, Paid, Cancelled, Refunded and Denied jobs can no longer be moved on the Calendar.
What happens when you complete a job
- If Charge cards automatically is on and the customer has a saved card, the card is charged.
- Otherwise, if Send an invoice when a job is completed is on, an invoice is created and sent.
- If neither applies, nothing is sent. Owners and managers can charge the customer or send an invoice later.
Both settings are on the Business tab, under Invoicing & payments (Growth plan). Charging and sending need a verified business.
Filter the job list
On the Private Jobs tab, the jobs table filters by New, Scheduled, In Progress, Completed or Paid.
