What are the photo and location checks on a job, and how do I turn them on?
Require photos before a job starts or finishes, and check that the crew is at the property.
Owners can require photos before a job starts, photos before it is completed, and a location check that the crew is at the property. Turn them on under the Business tab, in Jobs & crew. The photo rules are off until you switch them on; the location check is on for managers and crew by default.
The settings
- Require a photo before starting: the job cannot start until photos are uploaded.
- Require a photo on completion: the job cannot be marked done until photos are uploaded.
- Verify the crew is on site: "Checks the device location against the property before a job can start. Owners are exempt by default." Separate switches for admin, manager and crew.
When a photo rule is on, the job needs at least 3 photos. The app says "At least 3 Images Required" and counts them, "0/3 uploaded". When the rule is off, photos are optional and the app says so. The rules take effect on the next job screen the crew opens, including a job already in progress.
Where photos appear
Open a job from the Private Jobs tab on the web. The photos are listed in the job's details, and the office is told when photos are added.
The location check
In the mobile app, before a job starts, the phone's location is compared with the property. The crew member must be within 400 feet. If not, the app says "Location verification failed. You are … feet away from the job site. Please move closer to verify your location", with a Try Again button and the job address. The first time, the phone asks for location permission; the crew should choose While using the app.
The location check runs in the app. The dashboard's Start Job window asks only for photos.
For crew
Upload the photos first. The Start Job button turns on once you have enough photos and the location check passes. At the end, add completion photos and choose Complete Job. See How do I start and complete a job in the app, with photos?.
