How do invoice drafts work?
Save an invoice now and send it later, find it on the Drafts tab, edit it, or remove it.
A draft is an invoice you have saved but not sent. The customer cannot see it, and nothing is charged. You can finish it later from the Drafts tab in Invoices.
Save a draft
In the invoice form, choose Save draft. You see "Invoice saved as draft" and the draft opens, already with its invoice number.
You are not verified yet
You can create and save drafts before your business is verified. If you try to send or charge one, Lawnly keeps it as a draft and asks you to finish getting set up to be paid. Afterwards, open the draft and send it. You do not have to build it again.
Find your drafts
Open Invoices and choose the Drafts tab, which shows how many you have. A new draft is labeled Draft. One that is 48 hours old or more and was never sent is labeled Never sent, so unfinished ones are easy to spot. The line above the list also offers a button with the number and total of your unsent drafts.
Edit, send or remove a draft
Open the draft:
- Edit draft reopens it in the invoice form. Only drafts can be edited.
- The main button sends it, for example Send & request card when the customer has no card on file.
- The ⋯ menu has Record a payment… (if the customer already paid you directly) and Delete draft.
Delete draft asks you to confirm, then cancels the draft: it leaves the Drafts tab and is kept as cancelled. The customer never sees it.
